KTM sold 475 units of Duke 125 in India and it is the entry-level model of the brand priced at Rs. 1.18 lakh (ex-showroom)
KTM officially launched the Duke 125 on November 26, and the company has managed to sell 475 units last month. The Duke 125 is priced at Rs. 1.18 lakh (Ex-Showroom) and it is the cheapest KTM bike in the country, but the most expensive 125 cc bike as the pricing makes it compete against 200 cc motorcycles.
We were expecting the company to introduce the European version of Duke 125 in India instead the Austrian manufacturer chose to launch the Duke 125 with same old styling as Duke 200, which is expected to get a new model soon as it is the only model left in entry-level Duke series to get the new styling theme.
KTM India took this decision to keep cost down as Duke 125 and 200 share so many components like body panels, headlamps, tail lamps, indicators, instrument cluster and wheels. If they launch the European version then the pricing will be much higher than the current model as it comes with lots of advanced technologies from Duke 390.
The Duke 125 is powered by 124.7 cc single cylinder fuel injected engine producing 14.3 bhp of power at 9,250 rpm and 12 Nm of torque at 8,000 rpm. This engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox and this engine is tuned for performance and gearbox has short ratios as the bike reaches red line in no time like the Duke 200 and 390.
The braking duties are done by 300 mm disc at the front and 230 mm disc at the rear, the company also offer single channel ABS system like the Duke 200 and the rear wheel also come with an ABS-like ring but it is a sensor for wheel lift mitigation system under hard braking. KTM choose the single channel setup to keep cost down.
The company has given upside down forks at the front and mono suspension at the rear, which is again tuned for precise handling. The Duke 125 comes with 17-inch wheels with 110/70 section tyre at the front and 150/60 section tyre at the rear. KTM has given MRF Revz tyres and entry-level Duke comes with underbelly exhaust also.
