Hero MotoCorp will introduce two all-new 125 cc motorcycles and two new scooters in the coming months in India
Hero MotoCorp appears to be planning to bring in as many as four new two-wheelers in the 125 cc space in the near future. Only a few days ago, the Xtreme 160R launched with updates including upside-down front forks and it will be followed by the next generation Karizma XMR 210 in the coming months. The Harley-Davidson X440 developed in association with Hero will launch on July 3 in India.
In addition, the largest two-wheeler producer in the country is also working on a flagship adventure tourer and a faired supersport for 2025 – both likely boasting a 420 cc liquid-cooled engine. Recent reports indicate that the Xtreme 440R naked motorcycle utilising the same 440 cc engine single-cylinder from the X440 will arrive sometime next year.
Hero has been caught testing a brand new 125 cc sporty motorcycle as well a few days ago and it could compete against TVS Raider 125. It could be positioned above the Glamour Xtec 125 and might use the uprated version of the same powertrain. Moreover, the styling could be edgier with sharper body panels and a front end. It could be equipped with slightly upmarket features too.
The other 125 cc motorcycle, as listed in a leaked document, is a more premium offering that could be pitched against the likes of the Yamaha MT-15 V2.0 and the KTM 125 Duke. However, the segment does not have the same popularity as it used to be due to regular price hikes as customers are opting for higher displacement categories.
But, Hero might reignite the enthusiasm with a less expensive naked motorcycle, packing upmarket features. The company is also expected to launch the 125 cc version of the Xoom scooter and an all-new Destini this calendar year. The former could compete against TVS Ntorq 125, Suzuki Avenis and 125 scooters from Aprilia and Vespa.
The Hero Xoom 125 could use the same 124.6 cc single-cylinder air-cooled Fi engine found in the Maestro Edge 125. The Xoom 110 is already a sporty-looking scooter encompassed in a lightweight package and its traits could be carried over to the upcoming 125 cc versions.
