The flagship product of MG Motor in India, the Gloster is set to get a mid-life update and it is expected to launch next year in 2024

MG Motor India launched the Gloster in 2020 and the SUV has now started to show its age. A mid-life facelift is the need of the hour and in the latest development, a heavily camouflaged test mule of the three-row SUV has been spotted testing for the first time in India.

This clearly indicates that a facelift model of the Gloster is in the pipeline and we expect it to debut next year in 2024. Let’s have a look at the details of the MG Gloster Facelift.  Although the test mule is wearing heavy covers which is working well it hide the important details, we can still figure out a few changes on the facelift model.

To begin with, the alloy wheels are 19-inch diamond cut units which we get in the current model, however, the facelift could get a new design for the alloy wheels. The rear profile seems to have undergone a major overhaul with new tail lamps and a reworked rear bumper. It also looks significantly sharper than before. The overall silhouette will likely remain the same as is the case with most facelifts.

Apart from this, the test prototype also sports a dual exhaust setup, side footsteps and door-mounted ORVMs. We can’t see the front fascia in the spy image but we expect it to get a slew of changes including new headlamps, updated front bumpers as well as a redesigned grille. Inside the cabin, we can expect minor changes to the overall layout and upholstery along with new feature additions.

The powertrain department will continue with the familiar set of engine options i.e. 2.0-litre turbo diesel unit is good enough for 161 bhp and 375 Nm of peak torque while the 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel unit pumps out 215 bhp and 480 Nm of peak torque. Both the engines are mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox. There is no petrol engine on offer for the Gloster.

The MG Gloster Facelift will continue to rival the likes of the segment king, the Toyota Fortuner along with Jeep Meridian, Skoda Kodiaq and Isuzu Mu-X in the Indian market.
