2023 Kia Seltos facelift is expected to get a bigger 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine in place of the 1.4-litre turbo unit to produce around 160 PS and 260 Nm

Kia Motor India will reportedly replace the existing 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine, which is good enough to develop a maximum power output of 140 PS and 242 Nm of peak torque, with a 1.5-litre four-cylinder mill for 2023 MY. The reason is that the current unit may not comply with the more stringent RDE (Real Driving Emission) standards.

The bigger engine will kick out around 160 PS and 260 Nm and it will likely be linked with a six-speed manual transmission or a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic unit upon arrival. The midsize SUV is currently the second best-selling model in its segment and it was the first model introduced by the South Korean company in India back in 2019.

It has been a consistent seller over the years and is expected to get a big update sometime in the second half of the 2023 calendar year with a host of revisions inside and out. It will continue to be retailed with a 1.5-litre NA four-cylinder petrol and a 1.5-litre four-cylinder diesel engine. The former produces around 115 PS and 144 Nm.

The latter is good enough to churn out 115 PS and 250 Nm. The facelifted version of the Kia Seltos made its global debut a few months ago and is already on sale in many international markets. The 2023 Kia Seltos will likely gain a redesigned front end with a larger grille section and revised bumper amongst other visual changes.

Another major update could be the addition of driver-assistive and safety technologies in the form of ADAS. The updated Seltos could come with features such as a blind spot monitoring system, autonomous emergency braking, rear cross-traffic alert, lane keep assist, auto high beam assist, driver attention warning, safe exit warning, forward collision avoidance assist, etc.
