Skoda India has today announced the launch of the updated Kodiaq in the domestic market and is priced at Rs. 34.99 lakh (ex-showroom) for the entry-level variant. The Kodiaq nameplate makes a comeback after nearly two years of absence as it was discontinued ahead of the BSVI emission norms that came into effect on April 1, 2020, and is now offered with a petrol engine.
The 2022 Skoda Kodiaq competes against the recently launched VW Tiguan facelift, Citroen C5 Aircross, top-end variants of Hyundai Tucson and Jeep Compass. The updated Kodiaq made its global debut last year and it comes with notable exterior and interior changes along with the addition of new features. It is available in three variants locally: Style, Sportline and L&K.
The base Style, gains nine airbags as standard emphasising safety while the Sportline (priced at Rs. 35.99 lakh (ex-showroom)), as the name suggests, gets black treated exterior elements to infuse a more aggressive vibe. The front grille section, outside rearview mirrors, alloy wheels, roof rails, bumpers at the front and the rear are done up in black colour.
As for the performance, the 2022 Skoda Kodiaq uses a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that is good enough to generate a maximum power output of 190 PS and 320 Nm of peak torque in place of the old 2.0-litre turbo diesel engine. The powertrain is mated to a seven-speed DSG automatic transmission transferring power to all four wheels.
Other highlights in the updated Kodiaq are three-zone automatic climate control, 20.32 cm touchscreen infotainment system with navigation and wireless Smartlink, 12-speaker Canton audio, 12-way electrically adjustable front seats with memory function, electric tailgate with virtual pedal, two-tone dashboard, etc.
The exterior features of the seven-seater SUV are LED headlamps with illuminated DRLs, silver roof rails, an updated front grille with chrome surrounds, body-coloured bumper and front spoiler, retractable headlight washer, two-tone alloy wheels, SKODA lettering on the bootlid, dynamic turn signals at the back.
