2022 MG Gloster Teased

2022 MG Gloster is expected to get minor cosmetic changes while remaining the same mechanically; new connected features included

Following an official teaser image, MG Motor India has today announced the new i-SMART features that will be available in the updated Gloster ahead of its launch on August 31, 2022. It will boast of more than 75 connected car features according to the brand as the i-SMART intelligent system is said to enable customers to ‘connect with their car thus enhancing their overall driving experience.’

The buyers will be able to monitor their Gloster much more easily, activate any features they wish and smoothly connect to their lifestyle choices. In the 2022 MG Gloster, the owners will be able to utilise the application as an in-car remote for activating audio, AC and mood lighting along with existing i-SMART features.

Besides the current Apple Watch users, the i-SMART app will be made accessible for Android watch users too. The MapmyIndia-powered navigation system has been further enhanced with live weather and AQI information on the screen and it puts convenience at the forefront with the integrated ‘Discover App’ – an inbuilt feature of MapmyIndia co-powered by Dineout, and Kogo.

It helps in simplifying and customising search results for restaurants, hotels, and more while the new Park+ head unit App will enable users to pre-book and pre-pay for parking slots even before they reach their destination. Other highlights are an advanced VR system with 100+ commands to control the sunroof, AC, music, navigation, and newly added 35+ Hinglish commands.

MG also gives the provision for customers to personalise their in-car experience with customizable lock screen wallpaper. It has only been a couple of years since the Gloster full-size SUV stepped into the domestic market and thus the upcoming update is rather minor as only subtle exterior revisions are expected.

It will more likely remain the same mechanically as well. The 2022 MG Gloster will continue to compete against Toyota Fortuner and Isuzu MU-X and it already offers Level 1 ADAS-based safety and assistive features. The updated version of the Hector is expected to launch in the coming weeks with notable feature additions such as a larger touchscreen.
