2022 Maruti Suzuki XL6 comes with integrated Amazon Alexa support, and here, we tell (and show) you how it works

The updated 2022 Maruti XL6 was launched in India recently, priced from Rs. 11.29 lakh to Rs. 14.55 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi). The MPV has seen minor styling changes, but the equipment list has been updated with a lot more features than before. Amazon Alexa connectivity is one such newly-added feature, and it works brilliantly!

In our video below, we showcase how conveniently and easily one can use Alexa to control their new Maruti XL6. Simply turn on your Alexa and command it to connect to Suzuki Connect (Maruti Suzuki’s connected car system). Once that is done, the AI personal assistant can then access all the connected car features of the car.

We used a few voice commands with Alexa as examples here – turning on the hazard lights, turning on the AC, and asking for fuel status. For security, owners can set up a voice PIN for Suzuki connect, which would prevent others from accessing the vehicle’s connected features without authorisation.

The biggest practical advantage of Alexa connectivity is that owners can get the car ready before embarking on a journey – checking fuel level or diagnostics report, turning the AC on to cool the cabin, etc. – from the comfort of their couch, thus truly enhancing the convenience factor of the vehicle.

The 2022 Maruti XL6 also gets an updated powertrain. The petrol engine is still a 1.5-litre, naturally aspirated, inline-4 petrol engine, but the output has dropped a little, to 103 PS and 136.8 Nm. There are two transmission options available – a 5-speed MT and a 6-speed AT – with the latter getting paddle shifters as well.

The additional features on offer include ventilated seats, an updated SmartPlay Pro infotainment system (with a 7-inch touchscreen), tilt & telescopic steering adjustment, ambient footwell lighting, updated soft interior trims, 360-degree camera, TPMS, and four airbags.

Maruti Suzuki XL6 serves as a premium alternative to Renault Triber and even its own sibling, Maruti Ertiga. As for its direct rivals, Kia Carens is currently the only one.
