2022 Maruti Brezza gets a thoroughly revised exterior and interior and boasts a more advanced equipment list

Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) will introduce the biggest update for the Vitara Brezza yet in the domestic market on June 30, 2022. Ditching the Vitara prefix, it will likely go just by the name Brezza and the compact SUV was leaked undisguised months ago before it was caught during an advertisement shoot revealing most of the exterior revisions.

The brand has sent us an invite to block the date on June 30, 2022 “for an exciting offering”. The dealer dispatches of the popular sub-four-metre SUV have commenced ahead of its market launch while the unofficial bookings are said to have started at select dealerships across the country. Previously, we showed you the white colour and a dual-tone black and red shade of the upcoming model.

The mono-tone red and new green paint scheme of the 2022 Brezza will also be available and we do expect more new single- and two-tone colours to be part of the package – offering a wide choice for the discerning customers. The heavily updated Brezza continues to be based on the global C platform but with structural improvements.

It could target five stars in the Global NCAP safety assessment and is already the safest Maruti Suzuki car in India with a four-star rating. The exterior and interior have undergone a myriad of revisions while the powertrain will be a new 1.5-litre four-cylinder K15C DualJet petrol engine with progressive mild-hybrid technology found in the facelifted Ertiga and XL6.

It will kick out 103 PS maximum power and close to 137 Nm of peak torque and will be paired with a five-speed manual transmission and a new six-speed torque converter automatic unit with paddle shifters replacing the obsolete four-speed AT. The chances of the 2022 Brezza becoming the first compact SUV offering a CNG variant are also high.

Some of the highlights in the 2022 Brezza are redesigned grille, headlamps and bumpers, new LED DRLs, dual-tone 16-inch alloy wheels, new LED tail lamps, brand new dash and centre console, a floating nine-inch touchscreen infotainment system, sunroof, six airbags in top-end trims, automatic climate control, HUD, updated cluster, 360-degree camera and so on.
