2020 swift facelift-1-3

The 2020 Suzuki Swift facelift is expected to be launched in India soon and will be offered with the 1.2-litre K12C DualJet SHVS engine

Suzuki recently launched a mid-life facelift version of the current fourth-gen Swift in its home country, which gets a few design upgrades as well as a few new features that refreshes the B-segment hatch. The car continues to be one of the most popular hatchbacks that the Japanese carmaker retails globally, and will soon be making its way to the Indian market too.

The 2020 Swift facelift in Japan is available in six single-tone colours including Pure White Pearl, Super Black Pearl, Star Silver Metallic, Premium Silver Metallic, Burning Red Pearl Metallic and Speedy Blue Metallic. The latter two can also be had with an optional black roof, while two different dual-tone paint schemes are also available, namely Flame Orange Pearl Metallic & Black, Rush Yellow with Metallic Silver roof and wing mirrors.

However, no changes have been made to the mechanical components of the hatchback. The Japan-spec car is still powered by the K12C 1.2-litre twin-injector DualJet four-cylinder petrol engine that generates 91 PS power at 6,000 rpm and 118 Nm torque at 4,400 rpm. The power is sent to the front wheels through a five-speed manual gearbox, or optional CVT auto.

The hybrid variants use the same K12C 1.2-litre engine, but come equipped with a small DC synchronous electric motor that works as the car’s integrated starter generator. The motor is coupled with a lithium-ion battery pack that provides assistance during acceleration, and it also retrieves energy during deceleration. Also, the hybrid versions get an all-wheel-drive configuration.

New features on offer include the 360-degree camera that is being offered with the hybrid variants, paddle shifters available on the higher-end trims, while the top-end Hybrid SZ now gets a range of safety tech including autonomous energy braking, traffic sign recognition and lane departure assist as well.
