Looking into keen details, it is easy to spot the upgraded front fascia but the same dual headlamps of the existing version remain

This Skoda Octavia estate version can deceive you by its looks because you might think it is just a regular model but underneath the body it is hiding something really big. It is nothing but a test prototype of the next generation Skoda Octavia.

Looking into keen details, it is easy to spot the upgraded front fascia but the same dual headlamps of the existing version remain. The vehicle gets a redesigned lower portion of the grille as well as faux air inlets. However, it is too early to judge as the prototype is at its initial stages of testing.

The bulk of the prototype’s weight is concentrated at the rear meaning that there could be some sort of a testing equipment present there while the wheels also have sensors in the hubs. The Octavia currently runs in its third generation and has been around for more than two decades internationally.

Last year, the Czech Republican automaker gave a major facelift to the Octavia in early 2017 before entering India by July. Having expected to adorn a new generation by the end of this decade, Skoda could offer a plug-in hybrid version, staying in line with the upcoming Superb PHEV.

The Skoda Octavia has been produced by the Czech company since 1996 and is currently in its third-generation. The current Octavia we’re most familiar with arrived in early 2017 as a facelifted model with the aforementioned split headlights and an unchanged rear end.

In India, the Octavia is sold in nine different variants and is priced between Rs. 16.02 lakh for the entry-level and Rs. 26.25 lakh for the RS variant (ex-showroom, prices). Three engine options made available are 1.4 petrol, 1.8 petrol and 2.0 diesel.
