The special edition R25 gets cosmetic changes in the form of new livery and paint scheme; technical specifications remain unchanged

Yamaha launched the updated YZF-R25 and R3 in Indonesia last week and within a week of its launch, it has already introduced a special edition R25 with a new Livery, while we are still waiting for the arrival of the new generation R25 and R3 in India. The special edition motorcycle has been finished in Yamaha’s signature ‘Racing Blue’ colour and feature Yamaha’s MotoGP livery and is limited to just 500 units.

The special edition YZF-R25 gets Movistar branding above the side air intake and also on the rear panel. The motorcycle gets Yamaha’s “Revs Your Heart” tagline on the side panel below the Movistar branding while some other taglines like ‘Semakin Di Depan’ are also present on the engine cowl which means ‘One Step Ahead’ in their local language.

Besides this special edition MotoGP R25, Yamaha has also introduced the same motorcycle with Tech3 sponsor badges along with Monster Energy, Motul, DeWalt, and Stanley logos. The other motorcycle has been finished in all black paint jobs with neon green stripes.

Apart from the cosmetic changes in the form of new paint schemes, there are no mechanical changes made to the special edition R25. The YZF-R25 which was introduced recently in the markets of Indonesia gets dual, full LED headlights and a redesigned front fairing which looks sharper and neat than the old R25 fairing.

The motorcycle is built around on a steel tubular chassis and uses (KYB 37 mm) inverted front fork while its predecessor used telescopic conventional forks.  Some other highlights include full-digital instrument panel which looks quite similar to the bigger R1. For stopping power the YZF- R25 relies on a 298 mm single hydraulic disc brake at the front and a 220 mm single hydraulic unit at the rear.

There is an option of both ABS and a non-ABS variant on the motorcycle.  The 2019 YZF-R25 is powered by a 249cc, parallel twin cylinder, liquid-cooled, 4-stroke, DOHC engine which produces around 35.5 hp of maximum power at 12,000 rpm and 22.6 Nm of peak torque at 10,000 rpm. The special edition Yamaha R25 is priced at 58.9 million Indonesian rupees (INR 2.85 lakh) which is slightly higher than the standard variant.
