2019 Yamaha R15 V3.0 gains three new colour choices in Thailand while mechanically it remains unchanged; India launch likely in the coming months

Yamaha’s Thailand division has finally introduced the 2019 version of the highly popular YZF-R15 V3.0 to attract more young customers into its fold. Priced at 97,500 Thai Baht (around Rs. 2.16 lakh), the faired and nimble motorcycle sees a minor price increase of 500 Thai Baht (Rs. 1,109 approximately) compared to the outgoing model.

As expected, Yamaha did not mess around with the already proven formula and incorporated only minor cosmetic updates to the sporty motorcycle in the Thai market. The 2019 Yamaha R15 V3.0 gains three new paint schemes and all of them have a mixture of two colours each to bring a refreshed appeal in their own right.

They are black with red, grey with yellow and blue with black. The shades had already been launched in Indonesia and don’t be surprised if they get introduced in India during the course of this year – perhaps during the festive season when the buying sentiments will largely be positive among potential consumers.

The performance numbers of the 2019 Yamaha YZF-R15 V3.0 remain identical as the 155 cc single-cylinder four-valve SOHC liquid-cooled engine produces a maximum power output of 19.3 PS and 14.7 Nm of peak torque. The powertrain comprises of Variable Valve Actuation technology and is connected to a six-speed transmission.

It must be noted that the Thai-spec R15 V3.0 is slightly lighter by 5 kilograms than the version sold in India. This was attributed to the non-existence of dual-channel ABS system, unlike the Indian version. It is suspended on the upside down front forks and monoshock rear unit while in India a conventional telescopic fork is employed to bring down the costs involved.

Currently, it is priced at Rs. 1.40 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi) and is the most equipped 150 cc motorcycle available in India.
