Suzuki’s much anticipated fully faired 250cc sportsbike launching tomorrow along with 2019 Suzuki Gixxer SF 150, all specs and price details leaked
By now, it has become widely know that Suzuki Motorcycles India Private Limited (SMIPL) is launching a new quarter-litre motorcycle to rival models like the Yamaha Fazer 250 and the Bajaj Pulsar RS220 tomorrow i.e 20th May. While the new model is close to its launch, a new set of images reveals that the company is even about to introduce a new-gen version of the Gixxer SF 150.
It is being said that the 2019 Suzuki Gixxer SF 150 will be launched alongside the Suzuki Gixxer SF 250, which goes on sale from tomorrow. As per the new image, the updated Gixxer SF 150 looks a lot like the upcoming Gixxer SF 250. What this also means is that the fully-faired 150cc motorcycle has been updated with a sleeker and a sportier design, which should work in its favour by attracting all those looking for pose value.
The highlight of the updated design of the 2019 Suzuki Gixxer SF 150 is a sharper front-end, which carries a new headlight that gives the motorcycle a more aggressive look. Other than this, the updated Gixxer SF 150 also carries a clip-on handlebar, a chrome-garnished double-barrel exhaust, a split seat setup, and new graphics.
In terms of specifications, the 2019 Suzuki Gixxer SF 150 will remain the same as the outgoing version. Powering the updated motorcycle will be the same 154.9cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that powers the current model.
It produces a maximum power of 14.8 hp at 8,000 rpm and a peak torque of 14 Nm at 6,000 rpm. The engine comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. Even other mechanical components, like the suspension and the brakes, will remain totally unchanged.
The Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 on the other hand, will be powered by a 249cc, single cylinder, oil-cooled,4-valve SOHC motor. This unit promises to produce around 26.5 Ps of peak power at 9,000 rpm and 22.6 Nm of peak torque at 6,000 rpm. The engine will be paired with a 6-speed gearbox.
Although this is the newly developed engine but it is definitely not a liquid cooled unit like its closest rival the Honda CBR 250R however, it still generates almost identical power and torque output. What is even more interesting is also the fact that the upcoming Gixxer is also almost 6 kilograms lighter than the CBR250r.
As per the source, the 2019 Suzuki Gixxer SF 150 will cost Rs 1.09 Lakh (ex-showroom), while the Gixxer SF 250 will be sold for Rs 1.70 Lakh (ex-showroom). This will make the former slightly pricier than the outgoing version, while the latter will be costlier than both Yamaha Fazer 250 and Bajaj Pulsar RS220.
