2019 Mini John Cooper Works is powered by 2.0 L engine with 234 PS and 320 Nm, mated to 8-speed auto gearbox
2019 Mini John Cooper Works launched in India at Rs. 43.5 lakh (Ex-Showroom) and the company introduced the performance model via CBU route. Mini introduced John Cooper Works Pro Edition in 2017 but it was limited to just 20 units and the model was so popular among customers, which gave confidence for the company to introduce the new model in India.
The JCW model is powered by 2.0 L turbocharged petrol engine producing 234 PS of power and 320 Nm of torque, when compared to the earlier JWC Pro Edition, power output has been increased by 24 PS. In India, Mini is offering the JCW with just the 8-speed automatic gearbox as the company offer 6-speed manual in the global markets.
The performance of JCW is excellent as the hot hatch can hit 0-100 kph in just 6.1 sec. Mini has made so many mechanical changes to improve handling as the new model come with revised chassis as it can handle more power and the performance hatchback gets a proper mechanical limited-slip differential.
The spring and dampers also get an update along with a new lighter suspension, which helps to reduce the overall weight. 2019 Mini JCW comes with anti-roll bars and triple-path strut mounts. The company has also upgraded the brakes as the JCW model gets larger 4-piston Brembo brakes and they are cooled via vents in the front bumper.
The exterior design tweaks on the new model are minor as it is limited to tweaked grille with revised front and rear bumper as they have carried over the same alloy wheels from earlier model and one of the highlights of the design is the Union Jack tail lamps. The interior has minor tweaks like new sports seats and a new head-up display.
The JCW model comes with 8.8-inch touch screen infotainment system on the centre console and it gets connectivity features like Apple Carplay. The company has also given Harman and Kardon music system, which is one of the best in the Industry. Mini JCW doesn’t have any direct competitors in the Indian market.
