2019 Mercedes-Benz A-Class L Sedan has certainly matured compared to its hatchback sibling and looks to appeal for countries other than China as well
Alongside the appearance of Vision Mercedes-Maybach Ultimate Luxury Concept, the brand new A-class sedan has been revealed at Auto China 2018. Since LWB models are popular in China as customers wanting to have more rear legroom, it is currently reserved for the People’s Republic.
However, if the demands arise and Mercedes sees potential, it could be brought into countries like India just like the latest generation E-Class. The compact four-door sedan uses the styling prowess of the CLS and blend it with the top-notch safety technologies offered in the S-Class.

As for the exterior, the A-Class Sedan has certainly matured compared to its hatchback sibling and it comprises of a sporty sloping roofline and a new bonnet structure along with an aggressive face with prominent bumper section and bold character lines. It will hit production lines in China during the course of this year under Daimler-BAIC joint venture.
The China-spec A-Class L Sedan comes with multiple innovative driving assistance systems taken from S-Class, MBUX system’s intelligent voice control with natural speech recognition, etc. Buyers in China can choose between Sedan and Sport Sedan variants. The latter offers power domes on the bonnet, 16 to 19-inch wheels, Rose gold paint finish and so on.

The interior of the A-Class L Sedan gets wing-shaped main body, widescreen infotainment display, ambient lighting choices, MBUX multimedia system with WeChatMyCar app and augmented reality technology. The model has 60 mm larger wheelbase and measures 4,609 mm in length, 1,796 mm in width and stands 1,460 mm tall with 420 litres boot capacity.
It is available in China with a 1.33-litre four-cylinder engine making 136 PS and 163 PS. A 2.0-litre engine with 190 PS power output joins the lineup later. A seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission is standard across the range.
It has all the character and signs to reach other developed countries as well. It is likely to be sold in Canada, Europe and Unite States with different engine options suiting the particular countries. A hot AMG version can also be expected to join the lineup later.
