2019 Maruti Wagon R 1.2L ZXi comes with features like 17.7 cm SmartPlay touchscreen infotainment with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto
Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) is all pumped to launch the new generation Wagon R later today in the domestic market and it carries plenty of anticipation on its shoulders. The Wagon R nameplate has been around for nearly twenty years and it has enjoyed tremendous success.
Despite going through just two generations, the Wagon R has maintained consistent volume sales. However, with competition growing, Maruti Suzuki has come up with a brand new generation with specific interior and exterior changes for India. There is no short of segment-first features either to complement the evolutionary approach to the design.
It comes with a redesigned front fascia and a completely new rear portion as the Wagon R has become more modern than ever. Moreover, the 1.0-litre petrol engine has got a new company as Maruti Suzuki will introduce the tried-and-tested K-series 1.2-litre petrol mill from Swift developing 83 PS power and 113 Nm peak torque.
It is mated to a five-speed manual or an AMT transmission. The claimed fuel economy for the new engine in the lineup stands at 21.5 kmpl and it looks set to make a big impact in the segment mainly against new Hyundai Wagon R. It can be had in VXi, VXi AGS, ZXi and ZXi AGS trims as Maruti Suzuki has amped up the buying choices for customers.
The range-topping ZXi grade will feature 17.7 cm SmartPlay touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, digital tachometer, electrically adjustable and retractable wing mirrors with integrated turn signals, Driver & passenger side airbag, rear defogger, wiper and washer, front fog lamps, multi-functional steering wheel with mounted controls, co-driver side undertray and rear back pocket, seatbelt pre-tensioners with force limiters.
One of the main equipment the 2019 Wagon R ZXi 1.2 misses out is reverse parking camera while vehicle alert system is found on the infotainment system and there is also a smart mobile remote. The new Wagon R is based on the fifth generation Heartect platform that also underpins Swift, Dzire, Ignis and Baleno.
