The 2019 Maruti Ertiga launch expected in mid-November likely on 18 November. The second generation of the popular MPV will be a complete model replacement for the current model. That said, the current generation will serve the taxi market as a ‘Tour’ model. Based on the HEARTECT platform, the new model is already on sale in Indonesia.
The 2019 Maruti Ertiga will be featuring SHVS mild-hybrid technology for both of its engine variants. The petrol version will be powered by the 1.5-litre motor from the Ciaz. It develops a maximum power of 105 hp and a peak torque of 138 Nm.
On the other hand, the diesel version will be powered by a 1.3-litre diesel engine that produces 89 bhp and 200 Nm. Both the engines will be mated to a five-speed manual transmission as standard. The petrol variant will be also available with a four-speed automatic.
Later on, Maruti Suzuki could replace the Fiat-sourced diesel engine with its own 1.5-litre motor that will offer 110 PS and 270 Nm. The new motor will be BSVI-compliant and will feature SHVS mild hybrid technology. The new engine should launch by October next year.
A bigger highlight of the 2019 Maruti Ertiga will be its features list. Expect the new car to offer many premium features, other than the mild-hybrid system. These would include Bi-Xenon projector headlamps, keyless entry, push start button, touchscreen infotainment unit with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Cruise Control, etc.
You can safely get prepared for a slight increase in the prices. Thanks to the introduction of the larger petrol engine, a more modern platform, and more features, the new version of the country’s highest selling MPV could have a starting price of more than Rs 7 lakh.
However, we think that the premium will be justified through the more premium interior, a much more modern platform, and the more powerful petrol engine with a mild hybrid system. Stay tuned to Gaadiwaadi for latest news updates on the 2019 Maruti Ertiga India launch.
