Our exclusive image reveal that the Hyundai Elite i20-rivalling 2019 Maruti Baleno facelift gets a new bumper, projector headlamps even on lower trims

Maruti Suzuki India Ltd is not done with launching new models. After introducing the Ciaz facelift and the new-gen Ertiga, the company is now planning to launch the next-generation Wagon R. But this is not all, as the company will also come up with the new 2019 Maruti Baleno facelift. Gaadiwaadi has managed to obtain the first ever clear pictures of the new model that show the mid-cycle update of the B2-segment hatchback, thanks to Whatsapp group of Baleno Owners group.

The 2019 Maruti Baleno facelift will continue with its current engines but will have an updated features list and a revised styling to make sure people stay interested in this three-year-old model. Like the current car, the refreshed version will continue to be sold through the Nexa outlets and will be available in four trims – Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha.

However, unlike the current version, where projector headlamps are available only on the Alpha variant, the 2019 Maruti Baleno facelift will get this feature even on the lower variants. The headlamp unit on the refreshed car will be the same smoke-effect version that can be found on the Baleno RS. Other than this, the interior is expected to gain some features that will make the car an even more premium offering.

Visually, the 2019 Maruti Baleno facelift won’t be too different from the current car. The biggest difference will be courtesy of the new bumper that gets a rectangular air dam and new fog lamp housings. While not a huge change, it is enough to make the car look a bit fresher. The interior will expectedly get a new seat upholstery and probably an updated instrument cluster.

Also, Maruti Suzuki is sure to use this opportunity to make the new car compliant with the new standard safety standards that come into effect next year. Due to this, the 2019 Maruti Baleno facelift will come with the speed-sensing auto door lock, and speed alert system as standard features on all models.

The specs will remain unchanged. The 2019 Maruti Baleno facelift will continue to ride on the lightweight HEARTECt platform and will be available in two options – 1.2-litre petrol and 1.3-litre diesel. Both the engines come mated to a 5-speed manual transmission as standard while the petrol motor is available with a CVT option. Prices are expected to get a hike upto Rs. 22,000.
