The Kodiaq RS gets the most powerful version of the 2.0-Litre Turbocharged diesel engine under the hood along with few cosmetic and mechanical upgrades

During the month of June this year, Skoda dropped a teaser image of the Kodiaq RS SUV which set spark to the rumours of Skoda introducing the RS variant of their 7 seater SUV to their International lineup soon. After a long wait, we finally got the first glimpse of this much-anticipated SUV via few leaked images prior to its debut scheduled tomorrow at the Paris motor show.

The teaser image did reveal the entire SUV and to be quite honest it does look identical to the standard Kodiaq in terms of its overall design except few updates made to the exterior. However, all the magic happens when you pop open the hood because this 7 seater SUV is powered by the most powerful version of the 2.0-liter turbocharged diesel engine which uses two separate turbochargers to produces 236 horsepower.

The engine will be paired to a 7 speed DSG gearbox which will send power to all the four wheels at the same time. Although the performance figures are not out yet but this is the same engine which powers the Tiguan Allspace SUV which is almost the same size as the Kodiaq .

The Tiguan Allspace is capable of hitting 100 km/h mark from a standstill in just 6.7 seconds and can reach a top speed of 228 km/h mark and thus one can expect almost the same kind of performance figures from the Kodiaq RS as well. Besides the new powertrain, the Skoda Kodiaq RS also gets few cosmetic upgrades as well than the standard SUV. These upgrades include full LED headlamp unit and a slightly bigger front air intake.

Towards the side profile, the SUV features a bigger 20-inch alloy wheel wrapped with better tires while the rear profile gets a reflector spreading across the entire rear bumper. Inside the cabin, the Kodiaq RS gets new suede upholstery, fully digital instrument console.

In addition to all that the Kodiaq RS will also be the first Skoda vehicle which will be offered with Skoda’s Dynamic Sound Boost system, this system will play an aggressive motor sound through the speakers to create an illusion of a powerful engine on the works when the SUV is on the move.

Although we are not too sure of its India launch but the Skoda Kodiaq RS will go on sale shortly after being displayed at the Paris Motor Show in the markets of Europe.
