New Jaguar XJ to receive wide range of high-end technologies to compete with Mercedes S-Class and BMW 7-Series more efficiently

Jaguar is gearing up to bring the XJ luxury sedan as a zero emission pure electric car. The next generation model will be unveiled at the end of 2018 before being launched in 2019, on the anniversary of the first XJ. The sedan will not only carry a highly powerful electric, but several high-end technologies as well that will make it capable to compete with Mercedes-Benz S-Class and BMW 7-Series.

So far, XJ is all set to become the high-tech flagship car of the British luxury auto major. As we reported earlier that Jaguar Land Rover is dreaming big to compete with American EV manufacturer Tesla in coming years, next generation XJ sedan seems to be coming with that philosophy in mind. It is expected to challenge the Tesla Model S as well.

Interestingly, Jaguar JX has been the brand’s car of innovation since its introduction back in 1968. So, this seems the perfect choice to carry an all-electric powertrain. Alongside an environment friendly zero emission powertrain, the luxury sedan will also focus on offering premium features in order to give the buyers supreme quality experience.

While several auto majors around the world have been working on electric vehicles, Jaguar Land Rover doesn’t want to stay behind. The new XJ will bear the fruit of the British marquee’s effort in EV space. JLR is also working on a Range Rover inspired car alongside the new XJ. This SUV is internally dubbed as Road Rover and it too carries an all-electric powertrain.

The next generation Jaguar XJ could also bear an unique and fresh styling language that will make it significantly different from the current model. Meanwhile, Jaguar is gearing up to launch its first all-electric car I-Pace in March this year. Expect the new XJ sedan to get several technologies from the I-Pace.

Jaguar is aiming to grab greater market share in China and USA along with its home market UK. The new XJ is going to play key role in that strategy. As India too is thriving to adopt zero emission mobility by 2030, we can expect Jaguar to launch the new electric powered XJ here.
