Isuzu Motors India Private Limited has launched the facelifted version of its D-Max V-Cross pickup truck in the domestic market today. The Japanese manufacturer was spied running trials with the updated V-Cross in the last several weeks and the real deal is here for a price tag of Rs. 15.51 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai) for the Standard variant. The facelift comes with standard safety features like dual front airbags, ABS (Anti-lock Braking System), speed warning function, front seatbelt reminder and reverse parking sensors.
There are quite a few noticeable exterior changes made to the new model as it adorns newly designed LED tail lights with updated lighting graphics for the brake lamps, a set of new Bi-LED headlights in place of the halogen unit, blackened B-pillar, new side step, a reworked front grille and tweaked chrome bumper up front and rear.
The new set of 18-inch alloy wheels has certainly elevated the road presence of the lifestyle pickup truck and the fully-loaded Z variant costs Rs. 17.03 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai). The 2019 Isuzu D-Max V-Cross is offered in a choice of seven different colours namely Sapphire Blue (new), Silky Pearl White (new), Titanium Silver, Ruby Red, Cosmic Black, Splash White and Obsidian Grey.
The updated V-Cross was expected to receive a brand new frugal and more powerful 1.9-litre four-cylinder diesel engine making 162 bhp and 360 Nm paired with a six-speed manual transmission. However, Isuzu has decided with the existing 2.5-litre inline four-cylinder DOHC diesel mill that kicks out that 134 bhp at 3,600 rpm and 320 Nm of peak torque delivered at 1,800 rpm.
It is mated to a five-speed manual gearbox sending power to all the four wheels via shift-on-fly drive mode. The engine has been discontinued in many international markets already due to stricter emission standards and it could be around till the April 2020 BSVI deadline and the new 1.9-litre turbo diesel might eventually stand in its place.
