The sub-four-metre SUV segment has been hotly contested in recent times and the arrival of new products such as Hyundai Venue and Mahindra XUV300 has put tremendous pressure on the already established models like Tata Nexon, Ford EcoSport and Honda WR-V.

In response, Honda Cars India has today launched a brand new V grade equipped with diesel engine besides updating the S and VX variants. The Honda WR-V is now sold in three grades as except for the V, the S and VX are retailed in petrol and diesel trims.

The base 1.2L i-VTEC SMT costs Rs. 8.15 lakh while the VX MT with the same petrol engine is priced at Rs. 9.25 lakh. The 1.5L i-DTEC diesel, on the other hand, has the S MT costing Rs. 9.25 lakh and the new V diesel carries sticker tag of Rs. 9.95 lakh. The range-topping 1.5L i-DTEC VX MT is priced at Rs. 10.35 lakh (all prices, ex-showroom New Delhi).

The V diesel variant is slotted in between the S and VX grades. It comes with a number of exterior features such as LED Daytime Running Lights integrated into the headlamp assembly, front fog lamps, turn indicators on wing mirrors, 16-inch alloy wheels with gunmetal finish, rear micro antenna and chrome door handles.

The interior features 17.7 cm touchscreen infotainment system with AVN, voice command and audio while other main equipment includes automatic climate control system, cruise control, multi-functional steering wheel, push button start/stop, Honda’s Smart Key function with keyless remote, tilt and telescopic steering, front central armrest and dual-tone black/silver seat upholstery.

The WR-V is based on the same platform as Jazz and has ACE body structure. It gets dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, reversing sensor and camera with guidelines, speed alert, pedestrian injury mitigation, brake override system and front seat belt reminder among other safety features.

The S grade gains additional features like jack knife retractable key, auto AC with touch control panel, speed sensing auto door lock, fog lamps, driver side window one touch up/down with pinch guard, front vanity mirror with lid, rear parking sensors, high-speed alert and rear parking sensors.

The top-of-the-line VX variant gets leather-wrapped steering wheel, speed sensing auto door lock, vanity mirror up front with lid, and other standard safety features mandated by the government.
