2019 Honda CBR650R replaces the CBR650F and it will be sold across Wing World dealerships in two colour options
Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India has today announced that bookings for the new CBR650R has commenced in the domestic market across the 22 exclusive Wing World dealerships for Rs. 15,000. Competing in the sports middleweight segment, the new CBR650R replaces the CBR650F and it made global debut at the 2018 EICMA Show in Milan.
It is made available in two colour options: Grand Prix Red and Matte Gunpowder Black Metallic. The new avatar of the popular model derives plenty of styling inspiration from the Fireblade and resultantly has become sportier than ever before. The Japanese manufacturer says the 2019 CBR650R is “designed to be explored, used and enjoyed on the street”.
The new model comes right on the back of Honda launching the more accessible CB300R less than a couple of weeks ago and is the second global blockbuster in the middle-weight segment under the Silver Wing-mark umbrella according to the brand. The updated middle-weight sports machine has a bolder Fireblade-inspired bodywork with strong CBR DNA and it will part of Honda’s make-in-India programme.
The 2019 CBR650R comes equipped with a more powerful 649 cc liquid-cooled inline four-cylinder DOHC 16V engine with new air intake and exhaust design with the rev range increased by 1,000 rpm to 12,000 rpm.
It is good enough to produce a maximum power output of 93 bhp and 64 Nm of peak torque. Developed to fulfill the gap provided by the CBR600RR in the international markets, it gains five percent power boost at the top end and reduced weight of about 6 kg.
Apart from the fuelling updates and much improved torque curve, Honda has played around with fuel tank, frame and other components to bring down the weight as the changes attribute to 8 per cent improvement in power-to-weight ratio enabling bettered riding dynamics. It also features more aggressive rider’s triangle just as the naked CB650R as clip-ons have been lowered and moved forward by 30 mm and the foot pegs are 6 mm higher and 3 mm rearward with seat height standing at 810 mm.
The 2019 Honda CBR650R comprises of technologies such as Assist/Slipper Clutch, Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) that maintains rear wheel traction, new and adjustable 41 mm Showa Separate Fork Function (SFF) USD forks, dual radial-mount calipers, single-piston rear caliper for improved balance, dual channel ABS, full LED lighting with a narrow dual headlamp as the Fireblade, digital LCD display, etc.
