Price of the entry-level 2019 Ford Figo 1.2 Ambiente petrol MT goes up by Rs. 8,000 while the 1.2 Titanium MT price dropped by Rs. 39,000

Ford India introduced the heavily facelifted version of its entry-level hatchback in the domestic market, the Figo, in mid-March. In just over five weeks of its launch, Ford has announced price revision for the range and it makes the 1.2 Ambiente petrol manual variant expensive than before.

With an increase of Rs. 8,000, the Figo now costs Rs. 5.23 lakh while the price of 1.5 Ambiente diesel with manual transmission also sees a substantial hike. The latter sees a price hike of Rs. 18,000 resulting in it being offered at Rs. 6.13 lakh. However, despite the price jump in the aforementioned variants, all the other trims face price cuts.

For example, the 1.2 Titanium petrol manual and 1.2 Titanium petrol automatic variants, are the most beneficiaries as they witness Rs. 39,000 price drop each. They currently cost Rs. 6.00 lakh (from Rs. 6.39 lakh) and Rs. 7.70 lakh (from Rs. 8.09 lakh) respectively.

Next to those variants, the newly introduced 1.2 Titanium Blu petrol and 1.5 Titanium manual diesel have experienced a price reduction of Rs. 29,000 each. The revised prices meant they now cost Rs. 6.65 lakh and Rs. 6.90 lakh respectively. Additionally, the 1.5 Titanium diesel Blue is priced at Rs. 7.55 lakh with Rs. 19,000 price drop.

The Figo competes against usual rivals Maruti Suzuki Swift and Hyundai Grand i10 that are selling in big numbers and the price revision could be meant to make the hatchback more appealing for customers. In the facelifted version, the American auto major has presented comprehensive exterior changes along with interior revisions.

It has also received two new petrol and one diesel engine options with three powertrain choices. The bigger 1.5-litre petrol engine sold in the Titanium trim is mated to a six-speed torque converter automatic transmission developing 123 PS and 150 Nm (most powerful in its segment) while the 1.2-litre petrol sourced from Freestyle makes 96 PS and 120 Nm. The 1.5-litre diesel is good enough for 100 PS and 215 Nm with claimed economy of 25.5 kmpl.
