BMW officially revealed the fourth generation X5 soon after it was leaked online. The new X5 come with evolutionary design theme rather than an all new design. But the X5 looks fresh and in line with rest of the new generation X products from BMW. The new X5 is longer, wider and taller than the outgoing going model with wheelbase extended by 42 mm.

The increase wheelbase helped the company to improve space inside the cabin for passengers but the boot capacity reduced to 645L which is a drop of 5L compared to previous model. BMW has given slightly wider kidney grille with the vents that can be opened or cooled depending on the engine model. The headlamp design is similar to other X models and laser headlamp is optional with adaptive lights as standard.

2019-BMW-X5-Revealed-5The side design continues to be same and the X5 is the first model to come with 22 inch alloy wheels as an option. At the rear, BMW has given new LED tail lamps which get three dimensional form. The rear is the best part of the design and the boot is split like those on Range Rover. BMW has given electric tail gates as an option which is cool.

The interior of X5 continues to get the same design theme which we have seen in most of the new generation BMW models and the switch gear now get the option of glass controls. The X5 get two 12.3 inch screens one for the instrument cluster and the other for infotainment system which gets the latest i-drive system with all the features like gesture control, touch control, navigation system, Apple CarPlay, new graphics and more. The company has also given the option to unlock the car via smartphone app and X5 is the first model to get it.

2019-BMW-X5-Revealed-4BMW X5 comes with wireless phone charging, new ambient lighting, four zone climate control, massage, ventilated and electrically operated seats, interior perfume system and more. BMW will offer third row of seats as an option in December along with 20 speaker Bowers & Wilkins audio system and 10.2 inch screens for the rear. The X5 also comes with lots of driving assistance features like adaptive cruise control, steering & lane assist, side assist, rear-cross traffic alert, emergency park assist and more.

BMW has also given automated parking assist which will park the X5 on its own. The new X5 comes with lots of engine options and the range toping model is 4.4 L twin-turbo V8 with 455 hp of power and 650 Nm of torque. 0-100 kph in 4.7 sec and top speed is limited to 250 kph. The diesel models include 3.0 L in-line turbo diesel engine with 261 hp of power and 650 Nm of torque. 0-100 kph in 6.5 sec and top speed is 230 kph.

The flagship diesel model is M50d with the same 3.0 L diesel engine but with quad turbo to increased the output to 394 hp and 760 Nm of torque. 0-100 kph in 5.2 sec and top speed is 250 kph. All these engines are mated to 8 speed automatic gearbox. BMW offers adaptive M suspension to make the ride better and all the model get four wheel drive system as standard with an optional electronically controlled lock for off-road or M Sport package. BMW will begin sales of the new X5 by the end of this year and we can expect India launch by the middle of 2019.
