The 2019 A4 facelift comes with refreshed appearance on the outside to go in line with the latest fleet of Audi vehicles’ design
Audi has officially unveiled the updates versions of A4 sedan and Avant models for the global markets. The 2019 A4 facelift comes with refreshed appearance on the outside, to go in line with the latest fleet of Audi vehicles’ design. The exterior is sharper compared to the model we have in India and it gets new wheel design and new bumpers with pentagonal contours in the base as well as S-Line variants.
Keen viewers will be able to spot the separate openings in the air inlets present in the brand new front bumper. It channels the air into the wheel housings helping in possible additional cooling. The regular Audi A4 facelift can be distinguished from the S-Line spec model courtesy of new front grille with horizontal slats giving a 3D posture.
Other updated design elements are new trapezoidal exhaust system and new Turbo Blue paint job on the Avant version. The top-spec S-Line is the one to watch out for as it gets sports suspension for better handling, Audi Sport 19-inch alloy wheels, LED headlamps, sporty red brake calipers, leather sport seats, optional S sport seats in Magma Red, RS carbon inlays and so on.
No performance changes have been specified as Audi continues to use the same powertrains in the facelifted 2019 A4. The range of engines includes a small 1.4-litre turbocharged TFSI petrol unit and it goes up to a 3.0-litre TDI V6 diesel. Both the updated A4 sedan and Avant will go on sale towards the end of this year in United States.
In India, the A4 sedan is sold in four different variants with two engine options. The entry-level 30 TFSI Premium Plus and top-spec Technology Pack use 1.4-litre petrol motor, which is good enough to produce a maximum power output of 148 bhp at 5,000 rpm and 250 Nm at 1,500 rpm. It is mated to a seven-speed automatic transmission.
The 35 TDI Premium Plus and range-topping TDI Technology get power from 2.0-litre diesel making 188 bhp at 4,200 rpm and 400 Nm at 1,750 rpm. It is connected to a seven-speed auto as well. Currently priced between Rs. 41.46 lakh and Rs. 46.94 lakh (ex-showroom), we can expect the facelift to arrive in India sometime next year with little change in pricing.
