The Yamaha MT-09 SP will likely come with visual upgrades and changes to the suspension system
Yamaha is all set to introduce the premium version of its MT-09 street tracer in Milan next month. Earlier, the Japanese manufacturer launched the MT-10 SP and with the bike seeing satisfactory sales, the MT-09 will also follow the same path.
The Yamaha MT-10 SP version arrived with some interesting and hi-tech updates in comparison to the standard model. To start off with, most of the elements on this motorcycle were lifted straight from the litre-class R1M. Besides, the motorcycle also received semi active Ohlins suspension system to take on the broken surfaces more confidently. The SP variant cost 2,500 pounds more than the standard SP.

Now coming back to the Yamaha MT-09, it is very unlikely that the SP version will come with the same major upgrades. The ‘SP’ badge will only justify the improved styling and revisions to the existing suspension set up. However, chances are rare that the suspension will be semi active one.
For obvious reasons, the Yamaha MT-09 SP will come with a fly screen to distinguish it from the regular model. The Yamaha MT-09 SP will likely be unveiled at the 2017 EICMA motorcycle show at Milan, Italy next month.

Needless to say, the motorcycle will struggle to gather attention in front of the highly awaited big bikes like the new Honda Gold Wing, Kawasaki’s new supercharged weapon and a lot more.
Yamaha MT-09 could not do much in the Indian two-wheeler market and the company says that people in India could not understand the bike. A top honcho from the company revealed that in India, if you spend such a big amount of money on a motorcycle, you will expect big bike looks and bulkiness from it. On the contrary, the Yamaha MT-09 offers agility and sharpness while sacrificing on intimidating visuals. The Yamaha MT-09 managed to find only eight new homes in the last two fiscals in India. So, the upcoming MT-09 SP’s arrival in India is clearly a no-brainer for the brand.
