The new 2018 Suzuki GSX-150R naked bike takes design inspiration from its bigger GSX-1000S sibling; expects to generate more power

Japanese bike manufacturer Suzuki is preparing to launch a new GSX-150R naked bike in Asian markets in the next 2 to 3 years reportedly. Suzuki Indonesia has already filed a new set of patents for the upcoming 150 cc model. In the leaked set of images, the bike looks much bigger and more muscular in size.

All-new Suzuki GSX-150R is expected to arrive in market by 2018. The images reveal that it takes design inspiration from the bigger sibling GSX-1000S. Patents for the model have been filed to protect the design around the exhaust system. From the side profile image, the bike does look chunkier. Given the fact, the Indian market is opting towards more powerful motorcycles, we hope to see this model launching in the country sometime during late 2018.

It gets a sharp headlamp, fully digital instrument cluster and muscular chunky fuel tank complemented by bulging tank scoops. Apart from that, it sports low rider seat, stepped up pillion seat, split grab rail and sleek taillights. The patent images show the routing of the exhaust underneath the engine and the bulge in the downpipe that houses the bike’s honeycomb catalytic converter.

Change in the exhaust system indicates that the 2018 Suzuki GSX-150R will churn out more power. It could be equipped with 147 cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine paired with a 6-speed transmission. The engine is capable to churn out 18.6 bhp of peak power and 14 Nm of peak torque. As a reminder, the India-spec Gixxer takes power from a 154.9 cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine.

On the braking and suspension front, the new GSX-150R would remain identical to the present model. The patent image reveals a front disc and rear drum setup. A rear disc brake is expected to be there as the current model comes with an optional one. For suspension duty, it would get telescopic front fork and monoshock absorber at rear.
