2018 Suzuki Gixxer With ABS Spotted For The First Time In India

2018 Suzuki Gixxer ABS model is going to priced Rs. 6,500 more than the non-ABS variant; no other mechanical changes expected

Suzuki officially launched Gixxer in 2014 and since then the company followed up with SF which is the fully faired version of Gixxer. Suzuki consistently updates Gixxer every year with new colour shades to keep the model fresh. Last month, Suzuki launched 2018 version of Gixxer with new paint schemes which are Metallic Triton Nlue, Candy Sonoma Red, Metallic Sonic Silver and Glass Sparkle Black.

Even though Gixxer SF was available with ABS system for sometime now, Suzuki hasn’t introduced it in the Gixxer. The Gixxer with ABS system has been spotted in India for the first time. The Japanese manufacturer is only offering single channel ABS system with Gixxer in which the front disc only get this system while the rear doesn’t get any assist.

The Gixxer is available with either drum or disc brakes at rear and the ABS model get disc brakes at rear. Suzuki Gixxer ABS model is going to priced Rs. 6,500 more than the non-ABS variant and it is currently priced at Rs. 80,929 (Ex-Showroom, Delhi). Suzuki hasn’t made any mechanical changes for Gixxer except for the ABS system.

The Gixxer is powered by 155 cc single cylinder air-cooled engine producing 14.85 hp of power at 8,000 rpm and 14 Nm of torque at 6,000 rpm. This engine is mated to 5 speed gearbox. The SF and Intruder which also shares the same engine with Gixxer is offered with fuel injection system but the Japanese manufacturer is not offering this with Gixxer and maybe we can expect the Gixxer to get it during the next update.

The Gixxer returns around 60 kmpl and fuel injection will certainly improve efficiency. The top speed of Gixxer is 115 kph which is slightly lower than competition because most of the power is produced low and mid-range that’s why top end is weak. Suzuki Gixxer competes against TVS Apache RTR 160 4V, Yamaha FZ S V2, Bajaj Pulsar 180 and Honda Hornet 160 R.
