The all-new 2018 Maruti Suzuki Ertiga will launch next month, It will have an all-new design and a new 1.5-litre petrol engine that will replace the current 1.4-litre unit
The 2018 Maruti Ertiga is likely to launch around October 26 while booking will be open from 1st week of October. A festive season launch should help the new model take off to a strong start. The new-gen Ertiga could go on sale through the Nexa premium dealership network.
Underpinning the 2018 Maruti Ertiga is the same lightweight HEARTECT platform that is used for the Swift, Dzire, Ignis, and Baleno. The new model is a full 99 mm longer, 40 mm wider, and 5 mm taller than the current version.
However, its wheelbase, at 2,740 mm, is identical to that of the current car. Powering the petrol version of the new gen Ertiga will be the same K15B 1.5-litre petrol engine that powers the Ciaz facelift. This engine will replace the current 1.4-litre unit. It produces a maximum power of 104.7 PS and a peak torque of 138 Nm.
The petrol variants will get the SHVS mlld-hybrid technology, which will ensure that the mileage remains high regardless of the increase in power. The engine will be available with two gearbox options – 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic.
The diesel variant of the 2018 Maruti Ertiga will be powered by the same Fiat-sourced 1.3-litre diesel engine that powers the current MPV. This engine produces a maximum power of 90 PS and a peak torque of 200 Nm. The engine comes mated to a five-speed manual transmission. At a later stage, Maruti will replace this engine with it’s a 1.5-litre diesel unit from Suzuki. The new engine will be BSVI-compliant and will come mated to a six-speed manual gearbox.
Thanks to the upcoming stricter safety norms, all variants of the new 2018 Maruti Ertiga will be equipped with Dual front airbags, ISOFIX child seat restraints, speed alert system, ABS with EBD, seatbelt reminder for front seats, rear parking sensors, and speed-sensing auto door lock. The 2018 Maruti Ertiga will be costlier than the current model. Prices could start at Rs 7 lakh while bookings should start soon.
