2018 Mitsubishi Outlander gets substantial exterior and interior updates and will be sold with petrol engine option only
Mitsubishi’s Indian arm listed the all-new Outlander SUV on its official website back in August 2017 but its launch timeline remained as a mystery. It is more muscular in terms of design compared to the outgoing model. The second generation Outlander entered Indian market in 2008 before enduring a substantial update in 2010 but due to rivals catching up it fell short in sales.
The upcoming model’s bookings have commenced in India officially and is claimed to have aero efficient front end and roof design helping in reducing drag coefficient by 7 percent. Here is everything you need to know about the 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander:

The new Mitsubishi Outlander measures 4,695 mm in length, 1,810 mm in width and 1,710 mm in height along with a wheelbase of 2,670 mm. It stands 190 mm above the ground and has minimum turning radius of 5.3 m. It tips the weighing scale at 1,602 kg and the fuel tank has 60 litres of capacity. It is longer and taller than the upcoming CR-V courtesy of the monocoque chassis it is built on.

The seven-seater SUV derives power from a 2.4-litre MIVEC, 16 valve, DOHC four-cylinder petrol engine which is good enough to produce a maximum power output of 167 PS at 6,000 rpm and 222 Nm of peak torque delivered at 4,100 rpm. Power is sent via six-speed CVT with paddle shifters and onto multi-select electronically-controlled 4WD system.
Braking performance is handled by 16-inch ventilated front disc and solid rear disc amidst the SUV using electric parking brake with auto hold function. The new Outlander is suspended on MacPherson strut with coil springs and stabilizer bar at front and multi-link with coil springs and stabilizer bar at the rear.

The 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander gets electronically controlled fuel injection system and is claimed to have better fuel economy than the previous model at perhaps around 11 kmpl. The model is capable of doing zero to 100 kmph in just 11.1 seconds and has Eco and Sports modes catering to different driving scenarios.

The new Mitsubishi Outlander adorns ‘Dynamic Shield’ design language up front with plenty of chrome garnishing. It features sharper auto-levelling headlamps sporting LED tech and integrated LED Daytime Running Lights. Besides, it gets anti-trapping electric sunroof, 6.1-inch 2DIN audio system with an 8-channel Rockford Fosgate 710 W premium audio system, dual-zone automatic climate control, piano black trim around the centre console, leather gearshift knob, room lamp with map lamp, electronic power steering, AC air filter, keyless ignition, etc.
