2018 Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 and GLA 45 gets several cosmetic updates while powertrain remains the same
Mercedes has been banking on new models to further increase its market share in India and to sustain its leading status we have seen a slew of launches one after another in the last two years. In 2017, the German brand’s performance division AMG has joined the party and is rolling out vehicles in quick succession. So much that, several new models have been introduced in seemingly no time after their global debut.
Two more AMG models have headed our way as a dual launch has taken place in Chennai today. They are the facelifted avatars of the much-appreciated CLA 45 and GLA 45. The CLA 45 AMG is priced at Rs. 75.20 lakh while the CLA 45 Aero Edition comes with a price tag of Rs. 77.69 lakh. Mercedes-Benz is no stranger in launching special editions of existing models in India. On the other hand, the GLA 45 AMG is priced Rs. 77.85 lakh and its Aero Edition at Rs. 80.67 lakh (all prices, ex-showroom pan India). Therefore, the Designo personalisation unit developed ‘Aero Edition’ arrives to give customers different modification options based on their requirements.

The new CLA 45 and GLA 45 continues to have the same engine as the regular versions. The 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol unit is good enough to produce a maximum power output of 381 horsepower and 475 Nm of peak torque. It is connected to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox that helps transferring power to all the four wheels courtesy of the 4Matic system.
Both the coupe and SUV come equipped with a brand new eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system along with sporty contrast stitching on the inside while the Aero Edition gets the privilege of exclusive badges. A number of changes have been made on the facelifts to further differentiate them from their predecessors.

It includes yellow stripes on the bumpers, ORVMs and side profile besides the presence of blackened alloy wheels, yellow accented rear spoiler and a menacing overall black paint scheme.
