2018 Maruti Suzuki Ciaz facelift launch has been delayed because of date clashing with new Honda CR-V’s media drive
Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) rolled up its sleeves and entered the Ciaz to compete against Honda City in 2014. Both the C-segment models exchange blows with little to choose between them in terms of sales numbers and that beckoned respective facelifts to master the competition.
The Japanese brand updated the City in February 2017 with several cosmetic and equipment upgrades making it more expensive than ever while a comprehensive facelift of Ciaz had long been anticipated. Hyundai introduced the new generation Verna back in August last year and it further spiced up the proceedings.
With the arrival of Toyota’s Yaris, the segment has reinvigorated into a four-way battle for supremacy. We expected Maruti to introduce a facelift as early as last year but it did not turn out to be the case. Despite taking time, the new Ciaz is coming out with a bang sooner rather than later.
Maruti strategically shifted the sales of Ciaz from regular showrooms to Nexa premium outlets starting from April 2017 and brought a sense of more upmarket ambience to the vehicle. However, the Ciaz facelift, upon its arrival, will likely have more than visible changes as it enters a refreshed battle with the City, Verna and the newcomer Yaris.
