The biggest change in the updated Ciaz is the arrival of a new 1.5-litre petrol engine with SHVS (Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki) technology
Maruti Suzuki is all pumped to launch the facelifted Ciaz for domestic customers next month and it will feature an array of new features along with updates to the exterior. The Ciaz is a top-seller in the C-segment sedan space with Honda City and Hyundai Verna being the other competitors, as the trio exchange leading position in monthly sales chart more often than not.
It points towards the extremely close rivalry in the segment and to have a distinctive advantage, Maruti Suzuki will be including some probable class-first features. The biggest change, however, lies with the arrival of a new 1.5-litre petrol engine with SHVS (Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki) technology.
The mild-hybrid system could ensure Ciaz becoming the most fuel-efficient petrol model in its segment. The 2018 Maruti Suzuki Ciaz could become the right package considering the consumers’ increased affinity towards petrol variants. The newly developed engine will also find its way into the new generation Ertiga that is likely slated for debut during the festive season.
The K15B mill replacing the existing 1.4-litre unit is good enough to produce a maximum power output of 104.7 PS at 6,000 rpm and 138 Nm of peak torque delivered at 4,000 rpm. Transmission duties will more likely be handled by a standard five-speed manual or an optional four-speed automatic.
The long-standing 1.3-litre diesel engine making 90 PS and 200 Nm won’t be available at the time of launch and its gap could be filled by an upgraded unit in the near future. Besides the heavily updated front fascia with new grille, additional chrome treatment and newly designed bumper, the mid-cycle facelift adorns noticeable changes on the inside as well.
It includes updated instrument binnacle, faux wood inserts on the dashboard, etc. The updated Maruti Suzuki Ciaz is expected to come equipped with new features like cruise control, upgraded touchscreen infotainment system, improved safety features, revised connectivity options and so on.
