2018 Land Rover Discovery Sport gets new convenience features and is powered by a 2.0-litre Ingenium diesel engine
Land Rover has introduced the 2018 version of its Discovery Sport in the Indian market with prices starting from Rs. 42.48 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the base diesel. The British automaker has introduced some new features as part of the MY update which includes addition of Pro Services and Wi-Fi Hotspot accompanying the InControl Apps feature. It is sold in Pure, SE, HSE and HSE Luxury variants.
Offered only with diesel powertrain options, the 2018 Land Rover Discovery Sport sits at the bottom end of the company’s domestic SUV portfolio. In the newly included features list, the Wi-Fi Hotspot can be activated through a regular SIM and allows for up to eight device connection with 4G connectivity. Under the InControl Pro Services, there are a number of new additions as well.

In a bit to scale up the infotainment functions, Route Planner App, Commute Mode and Sharing ETA have been made available. The Route Planner App can be downloaded for IOS and Android platforms and it enables navigation and synchronizes routes with the car’s navigation system. Commute Mode is useful in displaying diversions if the regular route has any delay while Sharing ETA updates the users’ contacts about approximate time of arrival through SMS.
As for the engine options, the 2018 Land Rover Discovery Sport gets a 2.0-litre Ingenium diesel engine in two states of tune as the petrol motor is discarded (HSE seven-seat petrol variant no more). In the trims like Pure, SE and HSE, the oil-burner is good enough to produce a maximum power output of 150 PS and 382 Nm of peak torque.

In the high-spec HSE Luxury grade, however, the power increases to 180 PS and the torque to 430 Nm. Driving all four wheels as standard is through a nine-speed automatic transmission.
