The Lamborghini Aventador S received a Coupe version in 2016 and its arrival begged the question of when would the similar upgrades be introduced on the Roadster and the time is finally up. The Italian supercar manufacturer lifted the cloaks off the Aventador S Roadster at the ongoing 2017 edition of Frankfurt Motor Show and it has immediately entered India at a price of Rs. 5.79 crore (ex-showroom). It shows the domestic market’s importance among supercar makers.
As expected though, it comes adorned with the same technical and exterior modifications as its hard-top cousin. While the wind-on-the-face attitude is a cool addition, Lamborghini has worked hard to minimise the obvious performance compromises encountered in a drop-top. For instance, the removable roof panels weigh as few as 6 kilograms.
Due to the removal of the fixed roof, other strengthening additions had to be employed. Thus, the Aventador S Roadster weighs 50 kg heavier than the Coupe at 1.6 tonnes. It gets power from the same 6.5-litre naturally aspirated V12 engine which is good enough to pump out 740 PS of maximum power and 690 Nm of peak torque. With gearshifts claimed in 50 milliseconds, the power is sent to all four wheels through a seven-speed automatic transmission.
It features carbon ceramic brakes as standard and comes wrapped in Pirelli P Zero tyres. Painted in Blue Aegir, inspired by the turquoise ocean, it can be had in other paint schemes from the Ad Personam too. Customers do get chance to specify Alcantara or leather seats including the roof panels with black Alcantara covering or matte black carbon.
