The 2018 KTM RC390 seems to have no major changes under its belt as it is expected to remain similar to the existing model mechanically

The arrival of the TVS Apache RR 310 has some rivals worrying including the performance-based KTM RC390. It rules the segment for its track-based package and a whole list of features in an affordable price bracket that its competitors fail to offer. At the beginning of this year, the Austrian motorcycle manufacturer introduced the existing RC390 with several changes besides from a new livery.

It includes features like the segment-first ride-by-wire technology, slipper clutch setup, large 320 mm front disc brake and switchable ABS system to justify the resultant increase in price. The new exhaust system has been applied with stainless steel underfloor pre-silencer and rear aluminium absorption silencer on the right side in uppish angle.

The BS4 compliant motor is good enough to produce a maximum power output of 43 bhp and 36 Nm of peak torque. It is coupled with a six-speed transmission.

For 2018 though, the RC390 would not get as many updates as the outgoing model and it has been spied testing on Indian roads. The overall design is obviously kept intact but it will gain some minor revisions. The spy pictures suggested that KTM will be keeping its signature colours as orange, white and black theme will stay put.

2017 KTM RC 390 India Launch 2Despite the body graphics and look of the fairing remaining similar, the 2018 KTM RC390 was not running on the stock H rated 17-inch radial Metzelers, which was introduced as a replacement to the W rated ones with more durability as part of 2017 package. The KTM RC390 comes equipped with USD (Up-Side Down) front forks and monoshock rear suspension while the handle bars are positioned for sporty riding.

It also has digital instrument cluster and dual projector headlamps. No dimensional changes will be made to the 2018 KTM RC390 as well. Built on steel trellis frame powder coated chassis, it will continue to measure 2,145 mm in length, 760 mm in width, 830 mm in height and has ground clearance of 178.5 mm. Its price will remain the same as the outgoing model at around Rs. 2.30 lakh (ex-showroom) and is likely to arrive in the early months of next year.
