Kia Picanto officially introduced third generation of Picanto last year and it is likely to be launched in India as second product of Kia after SP Concept
Kia India officially announced its India entry at 2018 Auto Expo. Among the models showcased at Expo was Picanto, which is Hyundai Grand i10’s equivalent. The Picanto was spotted during dealer events of Kia and the new model has been spied on test in public roads in India as well. But Kia had confirmed earlier that the first product was going to be production version of SP Concept.
Kia Picanto is one of the most popular entry level hatchbacks in Europe and the company introduced new generation of Picanto last year. The design of Picanto is aggressive with an upright look which gives a sporty feel. At the front, Kia has given swept back headlamps which extend to grille and has a large air-dam along with vertical design for fog lamp housing.
From side, the design is similar to Hyundai Grand i10 and Picanto gets chrome finished door handle along with diamond cut alloy wheels. At the rear, Kia has given C-Shaped tail lamp along with a sporty bumper and the overall design of Picanto is appealing like Grand i10. The dimension of Picanto is 3,595 mm length, 1,595 mm wide and has a wheelbase of 2,400 mm.
The Picanto comes with 255 litres of boot space, which is similar to Grand i10 and ground clearance for European spec model is 141 mm. Kia is offering two engine options with Picanto as the entry level 1.0 L MPI engine produces 67 PS of power and 96.11 Nm of torque and the 1.2 L Kappa engine produces 84 PS of power and 121 Nm of torque. These engines are mated to 5 speed manual and 4 speed auto.
Kia is also offering a performance GT Line variant which is powered by 1.0 L turbocharged engine producing 100 PS of power and 172 Nm of torque. This engine is mated to 5 speed manual gearbox. It comes with sporty body kit and retuned suspension along with brakes. Kia is likely to introduce Picanto as second car in India after SP concept.
