Kawasaki India has launched the 2018 edition of its litre-class sports tourer Ninja 1000. The new version comes with new colour options and is mechanically untouched. The Japanese manufacturer had launched the Ninja 1000 in India a few months back and the bike arrives to our shores via SKD (Semi Knocked Down) route, resulting in a competitive pricing.

The 2018 Kawasaki Ninja 1000 has been launched in India in two new shades that go by the name Metallic Spark Black with Metallic Carbon Grey and Emerald Blazed Green with Metallic Carbon Grey.

Commenting on the launch of new colours, Mr Yutaka Yamashita, who is the Managing Director at India Kawasaki Motors stated that the Ninja 1000 ABS is doing an exceptional job in the global sports tourer market. And when the company mentions global, India also becomes an important part of it. This is the reason why the Ninja 1000 is a SKD product in the new IKM factory in India. The top honcho further states that every product has its life cycle and the Ninja 1000 with new colour combinations will surely attract new customers.

As already mentioned, there are no changes to the 2018 Kawasaki Ninja 1000 on the mechanical front. The motorcycle continues to get its power from a 1043cc, inline four cylinder engine that has been assisted to a six-speed transmission system. The fuel injected motor is good for churning out a maximum power output of 140 bhp along with a peak torque of 111 Nm.

In other news, the first lot of the new Ninja 1000 has been sold out in India. The response for this motorcycle has been very positive in the country, all thanks to its attractive pricing. With this, the company is now planning to bring its other big bikes like the ZX-10R and ZX-14R via the SKD route as well.
