2018 Hyundai Sonata facelift receives extensive redesigning touches and interior changes; comes with three engine options in US

South Korean auto major Hyundai unveiled the 2018 Sona facelift at the 2017 New York Auto Show in April this year. Now, the company has revealed the pricing of the facelifted sedan before it goes on sale in US in this summer. Pricing for the sedan starts from $22,050 (Rs. 14.23 lakh) and the top end trim is priced at $32,450 (Rs. 20.94 lakh).

The sedan has received extensive redesigning touch in order to become sharper and more stylish compared to the pre-facelift version. It gets an all-new cascading front grille in line with the current generation Hyundai models. The swept back sharp headlamps come with dual-beam appearance and integrated LED daytime running lights. The front bumper appears pretty much sculpted looking with the vertical LED lights with black housing and a sleek central air intake as well.

The hood of this sedan boasts sharp and sleek creases running towards the nose section. At the side profile, it gets sharp character lines running from behind the front fender and blending into the taillights. Also, the turn indicator integrated ORVMs, new design alloy wheels, blackened glass area with sleek chrome trim detailing and a nicely curved roofline enhance the visual appeal of this car.

Rear of this sedan gets a lip spoiler, wide and sleek taillights with LED inserts, redesigned registration enclosure and a revised bumper as well. Overall, the facelifted version of this sedan gets a dynamic appearance with the refreshed look. Inside the cabin too, it becomes more attractive compared to pre-facelift model. It gets multifunction steering wheel, analog and digital display consisting instrument cluster and a touchscreen infotainment system at centre console with various connectivity options.

The layered dashboard, dual-tone interior theme, updated seat and upholstery materials enhance the premiumness of this sedan. It gets three engine options that are a 1.6-litre turbo GDI unit, 2.0-litre turbo GDI and a 2.4-litre GDI engine. Transmission options include a 6-speed AT, a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox and an 8-speed automatic gearbox as well. The sedan is available in 7 different trim options.
