2018 Honda Jazz Facelift comes aesthetically more attractive incorporating sharper design and will have new features

Honda Jazz is a pretty attractive hatchback in the Indian market. The car is positioned in a segment which has seen boom of late, thanks to the changing buying preferences of the domestic customers. The premium hatchback sees tough competition from the rivals like Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Hyundai Elite i20 and Volkswagen Polo.

Both Baleno and Elite i20 are averaging well over 10,000 average monthly sales and Honda wants to get in the act with an updated version. In order to keep up with the competition, the Japanese automaker introduced a facelifted version for global markets and it will likely make its way to India sometime later this month.

2018 Honda Jazz Facelift 3

It will arrive as a part of Honda Car India’s latest strategy to launch premium and upmarket cars in the country. The facelifted Jazz comes incorporating several aesthetic changes at exterior and inside the cabin.

We showed you the studio shots of the premium hatchback for Japan earlier before the official images of the facelifted Jazz from 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show in September. So without further ado, here is everything you need to know about the 2018 Honda Jazz from Indian buyers’ perspective:

The 2018 Honda Jazz facelift is expected to come priced little higher than the current model, but Honda will surely try to keep the pricing competitive against its rivals. The current model is priced between Rs. 6.06 lakh and Rs. 9.41 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi). Expect the new model to range between Rs. 6.2 lakh and Rs. 9.7 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi) considering the aggressive price WR-V crossover has entered with.

2018 Honda Jazz Facelift Engine Specifications

The 2018 Honda Jazz facelift is expected to continue with the same 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol engine and 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel engine that are available with the current model. The 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol engine is capable of churning out 87 bhp of peak power at 6,000 rpm and 110 Nm of peak torque at 4,800 rpm. The diesel engine, on the other hand, is capable of pumping out 98 bhp of peak power at 3,600 rpm and 200 Nm of peak torque at 1,750 rpm.

Transmission options for the current model include a 5-speed manual gearbox, a 6-speed manual gearbox and a CVT as well. The petrol powered Honda Jazz gets a five-speed manual gearbox and the CVT is available on the top trim only. The diesel powered model gets a six-speed manual gearbox. The CVT could get an upgrade though as in Euro-spec version but we don’t know it officially yet. Honda might launch a diesel CVT as in the Amaze at a later time.

2018 Honda Jazz Facelift RearIn couple of overseas markets, the latest Jazz gets a 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol engine combined with an electric motor powered by a lithium-ion battery. This hybrid variant gets a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. But the hybrid Jazz is unlikely to be offered in India. For Europe though, there is a new 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol will be introduced making 130 PS power. The Euro 6 compliant engine, with 18 kmpl mileage, is sold only in the Dynamic grade while rest of the trims continues with the 1.3-litre petrol motor.

On the fuel efficiency front, the 2018 Honda Jazz facelift is likely to come with the same figures for both the petrol and diesel models. The Jazz petrol manual currently returns 18.7 kmpl of fuel efficiency, while the CVT equipped model delivers 19 kmpl. The diesel powered model generates 27.3 kmpl of fuel efficiency.

2018 Honda Jazz Facelift LED HeadlampsThe 2018 Honda Jazz facelift comes sharper and more stylish looking compared to the current model and is in line with current gen Accord, Civic and City. The car receives several design tweaks in order to become more appealing. The front fascia becomes much sharper thanks to the new LED headlamps and integrated LED daytime running lights. The Honda logo boasts chrome garnishing around it and the headlamps too comes sporting chrome extensions.

The front bumper features slightly revised with larger air intake and redesigned fog lamp housing. Also, there are chrome trim around the fog lamp and at the bottom of the front fascia. At the side profile, the premium hatchback could come with newly designed 16-inch alloy wheels and side sill skirts. Apart from that, the car’s silhouette remains identical to the current model.
2017 Honda Jazz Unveiled 2Rear fascia of the 2018 Honda Jazz gets an integrated roof spoiler, LED taillights and an updated rear bumper. Dimensionally, it is expected to remain same as the present Jazz. Overall, thanks to the minor design tweaks, the 2018 Honda Jazz becomes pretty much stylish compared to the pre-facelift model. Honda could offer new exterior colour options for this car as well like the metallic Skyride Blue.

The touchscreen infotainment system will come incorporating various connectivity options.
