2018 Honda Activa-i is sold in five metallic colour options and gets a slight price hike over the outgoing model; no mechanical changes made
Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) has silently introduced the 2018 version of its Activa-i in the domestic market. It has been priced at Rs. 50,010 (ex-showroom, New Delhi), at a slight price hike of around Rs. 500 over the outgoing model. The Japanese two-wheeler major targets female customers with its i package of the regular Activa and it has been around for nearly half a decade.
However, unlike the Activa 125 and Activa 5G, Honda could not manage to taste success with the Activa-I thus far. In June 2018 sales table, the Activa took top position from Hero Splendor by selling more than 14,000 units in comparison and it has largely to do with the standard Activa range.
The 2018 Honda Activa-i comes with metallic exhaust muffler, two-tone analogue instrument panel, front hook, four-in-one ignition, independent seat opening switch, etc. It is retailed in five different colour options such as Lush Magneta Metallic, Orchid Purple Metallic, Mat Axis Grey Metallic, Candy Jazzy Blue and Imperial Red Metallic.
Honda has not updated the mechanicals of the Activa-i this time around and it continues to employ the tried and tested 109.19 cc single-cylinder four-stroke air-cooled SI engine, It is good enough to produce a maximum power output of 8.03 PS at 7,000 rpm and 8.94 Nm of peak torque delivered at 5,500 rpm.
It is mated to a CVT transmission and claimed to have ARAI certified fuel economy of 66 kmpl and 83 kmph top speed. It uses drum brakes at front and rear with standard CBS (Combined Braking System) while the suspension duty is handled by spring loaded hydraulic units. The 2018 Honda Activa-I runs on 90/100-10 tubeless tyres on each end.
The scooter competes against TVS Scooty Zest, Hero Pleasure and Yamaha Ray Z. It measures 1,795 mm in length, 705 mm in width and stands 1,115 mm tall. The Activa-i features 5.3-litre fuel tank along with 165 mm ground clearance and 103 kg kerb weight. With 1,238 mm wheelbase, it offers comfortable seating room for rider and the pillion.
