2018 Ford Endeavour facelift could come with updated exterior in line with the latest Ranger; no powertrain changes expected

Ford has earned positive response with the latest iteration of Endeavour SUV in India. Currently in third generation globally, the rugged SUV is about to get a facelift likely later this year and the test mule of it was spotted for the first time in Australia back in June 2017. Now it has been spied completely undisguised again in Thailand giving us a preview of what to expect from the cosmetic updates.

The Thai market is a significant one for the Endeavour where it is sold as Everest. The 2018 Ford Endeavour facelift will come incorporating a revised and wider front grille with horizontally-positioned triple chrome slats instead of two in the existing model. The Ranger pickup truck based large SUV does not have revised headlamps but the bumper seems to have been mildly tweaked.

Expect some minor design change inside the cabin along with the introduction of new features, updated seat and upholstery materials.

The Ford Endeavour already comes equipped with an array of safety features and the facelift model is expected to receive Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) and radar based cruise control enhancing the protection level much further. Also, pedestrian and animal detection systems could be installed as well.

However, it is not sure, if Ford India would offer these features in the domestic market-spec SUV. The model sold in India is available with two different diesel engine options: a 2.2-litre TDCi unit and a 3.2-litre TDCi motor. Expect both these engines to be continued in the upcoming facelift model also.

In India, the Ford Endeavour is priced between Rs. 25.65 lakh and 32.09 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi). Expect the upcoming facelifted model to be priced slightly higher than the current model.

The latest Endeavour entered Indian market at the beginning of 2016 and had first-mover advantage and started pulling away from its main rival Toyota Fortuner in terms of sales. However, Toyota reacted quickly and brought its newest weapon in the armoury in November 2016 to get back the market share as the completely redesigned Fortuner did all the goods. T

he facelifted Endeavour could spice things up again when it goes on sale in India probably later this year as Ford plans a major assault with the Freestyle CUV and the facelifted avatars of the Figo hatchback and Aspire subcompact sedan.
