The 2018 Ford Aspire is only a few days away from its launch the facelift compact sedan will be replacing the current car which is on sale in the Indian market and will get a lot of exclusive features never seen before. After Ford introduced the Aspire sedan with new features the prices for the model has also gone up by some margin. Still, if we compare the prices of the Aspire sedan and the Honda Amaze side by side then the Ford Aspire prices are still lower than that of Amaze. The prices for the Aspire base petrol variant starts from 5.55 Lakh onward while the prices for the Amaze base petrol variant starts at 5.80 Lakh onward.

The fully loaded top spec Aspire Titanium+ is priced at 7.24 Lakhs while the Amaze top spec VX trim is priced at 7.80 lakhs which are quite high compared to its newly launched rival. When we compare the features both the Aspire sedan and Amaze gets similar kind of features including a touchscreen infotainment system, climate control, reverse camera with parking sensors, automatic headlamp, push-button start, keyless entry and lastly a rain sensing wipers.

Just like the petrol variant the prices of the diesel variant of the Aspire sedan too has received a significant rise, however, the Aspire base diesel variant prices starts from 6.45 Lakh onward which is still lower by almost 45, 000 than the base diesel variant of the Amaze which is actually priced 6.90 Lakh onward.

The top end diesel variant prices of the Aspire too undercut the prices of the Amaze diesel by almost 64 thousand rupees while both of them almost provides the same kind of features though.

Ford offers the automatic transmission only with Titanium variant and is priced comparatively higher than the Amaze automatic variants. For your information, the Amaze offers an automatic transmission with S and V trims. If we talk about the automatic transmission itself then there is no doubt that Honda offers the best AT transmission amongst the two. The Amaze petrol variant gets CVT automatic transmission with paddle shifters while the Ford Aspire gets a standard torque converter.

Until now the Honda Amaze returned slightly more fuel efficiency figures than Ford’s compact sedan, however, the facelift Ford Aspire now gets a new 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine which promises to return a claimed fuel efficiency figures of 20.4 kmpl which is obviously more than the earlier petrol unit. The Amaze claimed fuel efficiency figures of 19 km to a litre.

The 1.5 Litre diesel engine on the other hand too get a minor update and promises to return 26.1 kmpl which are slightly lower than what the 1.5 Litre diesel unit of the Amaze returns.

The newly introduced Ford Aspire facelift is powered by a new 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine which produces about 94 Bhp of peak power and 120 Nm of torque. The engine is paired to a 5-speed manual transmission. The new engine is more fuel efficient than the older unit it replaced and promises to return a claimed fuel efficiency figures of 20.4 kmpl. There is also a more powerful 1.5 Litre petrol unit on offer borrowed from Ecosport, this engine mated to a 6-speed gearbox produces an impressive 123 horsepower and 150 Nm of torque and is also slightly more powerful than the previous unit.

The diesel variant, on the other hand, continues with the 1.5 Litre 4 cylinder unit which has received no changes in the power output figures. The diesel motor churns out about 100 ps of peak power and 215 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a 5-speed manual transmission as well.

Compared to the engine options in the Ford Aspire sedan the Honda Amaze gets 1.2 Litre petrol unit which produces 88 Bhp of peak power and 110 Nm of torque. Unlike Ford which offers a more powerful 1.5 Litre unit as well, Honda offers only a single 1.2 Litre unit only with the Amaze. The diesel variant, on the other hand, gets a 1.5 Litre unit which produces about 98.6 Bhp of peak power and 200 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a manual transmission only just like what you find in its rival.

If we compare the specs of the newly introduced Ford Aspire facelift with Honda Amaze there is no doubt that Ford treats offers plenty of engine options in the form of a smaller 1.2 Litre petrol a more powerful 1.5 Litre petrol and a 1.5 Litre diesel while Honda offers only a 1.2 Litre petrol and the tried and tested 1.5 Litre diesel unit which also powers some of its other cars as well.

Compare the fully loaded variant of the newly introduced Ford Aspire and Honda Amaze and we are pretty sure that the Aspire will definitely attract your attention first. The new compact sedan gets a refurbished interior which features a new 6.5- or 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Ford Sync3 tech. This new infotainment system gets a floating screen which can be found in the Ford Ecosport compact SUV as well.

Besides the new infotainment system, the Aspire sedan cabin also features adjustable front and rear seat headrests, electrically adjustable ORVMs, remote keyless entry, rear defogger, automatic climate control, new central AC vents, push-button start, rear seat centre armrest, optimized dashboard with less number of buttons, dual USB ports etc.

The Honda Amaze on the other hand to gets a sophisticated dashboard integrated with floating Digipad 2.0 infotainment system. This infotainment system supports both Apple car play and Android Auto and navigation as well.

The top spec Amaze sedan on the other hand too gets plenty of features like an Automatic Climate Control, One Push Start Stop Button with White & Red Illumination, Honda Smart Key System with Keyless Remote, Smart Trunk Lock with Keyless Release, Power Adjustable and folding ORVM, Height Adjustable Driver Seat, Rear Centre Foldable Armrest with Cupholder etc.

Although you will love both the cars interiors because they offer almost similar kind of features but we do feel that the Aspire sedan’s interior looks slightly more premium now thanks to its new infotainment system and redesigned dashboard design.

As you can clearly notice from the above specs the Aspire sedan is slightly shorter in length than the Amaze sedan which actually takes a toll on the boot space as well at the rear. The Amaze offers 420 Litres of space at the trunk compared to 359 Litres on the Aspire sedan. However, the Aspire sedan is a lot wider than its rival which definitely will provide more interior room inside. The Aspire sedan even also gets more ground clearance compared to the Amaze sedan.

Prices: The newly launched facelift Ford Aspire sedan base petrol prices still undercut the pricing of the Honda Amaze by a fair margin while the prices of the loaded top diesel spec variant of the Aspire has gone up slightly in comparison to the Amaze top spec variant.

Specification: There is no denying the fact that the Aspire sedan offers more engine options than the Amaze which is powerful and fuel efficient at the same time. The more powerful 1.5 Litre petrol variant which Ford offers on the Aspire is way more powerful than the 1.2 Litre petrol unit which is also the only petrol engine option that is available in Amaze.

Mileage: The Aspire is now more fuel efficient sedan than the Honda Amaze thanks to the new 1.2 Litre Dragon petrol engine. The Amaze diesel variant, on the other hand, is slightly more fuel efficient than the 1.5 Litre diesel unit of the Ford.

Features: If we talk about features then both the cars offer the almost the same amount of features and no one excels each other in terms of equipment and luxury that they offer. However, we do feel that the new infotainment system of Ford will definitely be able to attract more customer attention than Amaze.

Hence it is clear that the Ford Aspire sedan offers more engine option than the Honda Amaze sedan gets a slightly more spacious interior thanks to its wider body. The petrol engine on the Aspire is a more frugal unit now while the Amaze does not lack behind a lot either and offers almost the same kind of creature and comfort as well. However, those who love to drive more powerful and peppy car Ford is the only one amongst the two to offer a powerful 1.5 Liter unit as well which gives it a slight edge over the Honda Amaze.
