2018 Ducati Multistrada Range Could Be Unveiled At EICMA

The new range will likely see two new motorcycles namely Multistrada 950 Enduro and Multistrada 1260; India launch expected early next year

The 2017 edition of EICMA is nearing which simply means that the bikers across the globe are eagerly waiting to see some of the finest masterpieces from the motorcycle world. Various two-wheeler manufacturers are all set to participate in the annual event and Ducati is no behind. The company might introduce its new Multistrada range at the motoring exhibition to be held in Milan, Italy.

The new Multistrada line up comprises of two motorcycles namely the Multistrada 950 Enduro and Multistrada 1260. As the name suggests, the Ducati Multistrada 950 Enduro will take its inspiration from its elder sibling Multistrada 1200 Enduro. Having said that, the upcoming motorcycle will come equipped with dual purpose tyres along with larger wired wheels to take on the terrains with ease. The tyres will likely be Pirelli Scorpion Rally ones.

Besides this, the new Multistrada 950 Enduro might also receive an additional Enduro riding mode. Being a proper off roader, the motorcycle may also come fitted with long travel suspension and a larger capacity fuel tank in favour of long distance touring.

Talking of the awaited Ducati Multistrada 1260, the reports on the internet suggest that the company will replace the Multistrada 1200 with the former by fitting a slightly larger displacement motor. The engine will be the same Testastretta DVT (Desmodromic Variable Timing) unit that runs the company’s XDiavel S. The performance figures in the said power cruiser stand at 156 bhp and 129 Nm. However, the power in the Multistrada 1260 will see a hike to serve the purpose of an adventure bike.

These motorcycles are expected to land on Indian soil as early as next year. The company had launched the Multistrada 950 and Monster 797 in the country in June this year. While the Ducati Multistrada 950 arrived carrying a price tag of Rs. 12.60 lakh, the Monster 797 aimed to set its buyer back by Rs. 7.77 lakh.

The launch price of the Monster 797 was the pre-GST and once the new set of rules kicked in, the streetfighter saw an increase in price with the present figure being Rs. 8.05 lakh (all prices, ex-showroom, Delhi).
