2018 BMW 6 Series GT Gets Diesel Engine; Priced From Rs. 66.50 Lakh

The BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo has been launched in India with a new diesel engine variant. With the addition, the 6 Series GT is now available in both petrol and diesel options. The made-in-India model locally premiered back in February at the Auto Expo 2018 with a single petrol engine and has now received two variants – Luxury Line and M Sport – in its diesel scheme of things.

The 630d Gran Turismo is sold across all the BMW dealerships present in India. The Luxury Line indulges premium styling with elegant contours and extensive chrome styling topped of by luxurious features, while the M Sport unravels the driving enthusiast within you courtesy of the M division. The existing petrol variant will also be available in a new design trim from next month onwards.

2018 BMW 6 Series GT 630d M Sport Launched in India

The BMW 630i Gran Turismo Luxury Line will come equipped with chrome design elements on the outside, along with fine-wood trim inside the cabin. The M Sport diesel boasts M Aerodynamics package with black fins for Air Breathers, special design for side skirts and rear apron, large front air intakes and M Sport Brake. Exclusive ‘M’ designations on the side, ‘M’ door sill finishers, car key with ‘M’ logo and ‘M’ light alloy wheels are also there to behold.

The BMW 630d Gran Turismo Luxury Line costs Rs. 66, 50,000 while the range-topping BMW 630d Gran Turismo M Sport is priced at Rs. 73, 70,000. The ex-showroom price of the new BMW 630i Luxury Line is Rs. 61, 80,000 (all prices, ex-showroom India). The 3.0-litre six-cylinder TwinPower Turbo diesel engine in the BMW 630d Gran Turismo develops 265 hp and a maximum torque of 620 Nm at 2,000 – 2,500 rpm, helping it to accelerate from 0-100 kmph in just 6.1 seconds.

2018 BMW 6-Series Gran Turismo

It is mated to an eight-speed Steptronic Sport Automatic transmission. Driver can choose between different driving: Sport, Comfort, Comfort+, Eco Pro and Adaptive. The adaptive 2-axle air suspension with automatic self-levelling provides “supreme” ride comfort and also sharpens the GT’s dynamics while the Launch Control is provided as standard.

Alongside a slew of upholstery and colour options, BMW sells the 6 Series GT with innovative technologies. They include Remote Control Parking which allows for a driver to maneuver the vehicle into a narrow parking space from outside using the BMW Display Key. Apart from other vehicle related information, the smart key also shows service reminders, cabin temperature, mileage range and fuel level.

The smartphone holder integrated into the centre console enables inductive Wireless Charging for mobile phones and BMW Display key. The acceleration and braking actions are monitored and controlled by Park Distance Control (PDC) and the Parking Assistant with Surround View camera. The engine can be started or switched off by remote control and Surround View shows bird’s-eye view of the 6 Series GT as well as a three-dimensional image of the traffic situation, along with detecting obstacles.

The 6 Series GT is offered in metallic paint jobs such as Mineral White, Glacier Silver, Mediterranean Blue and Royal Burgundy Red brilliant effect. The exclusive metallic paintworks for the M Sport range include Carbon Black and Bluestone. BMW also provides a range of upholstery combos with the Luxury Line and the M Sport gains exclusive Leather ‘Nappa’ Ivory White exclusive stitching/piping in contrast | Black/Dark Coffee and exclusive Leather ‘Nappa’ Mokka exclusive stitching/piping in contrast | Black.
