2018 Benelli 402S Is The City Cruiser We Want In India


Benelli 402S is an urban cruiser with Ducati XDiavel-like stance; unveiled at EICMA in Milan

Benelli took the stage at EICMA 2017 in Milan to unveil its new city cruiser motorcycle 402S that appears with a Ducati XDiavel like design. The urban cruiser bike truly blends modern style and Benelli’s signature design languages together and comes with a very eye-catching. The motorcycle not only promises smooth performance, it also comes ensuring a superior quality riding experience. It is not sure if Benelli will bring this model here in India, but if it does, that would be the nicest thing from the Italian brand.

Speaking about its design, the 2018 Benelli 402S features a design that is very close to the Ducati XDiavel. If you look at the side profile, it looks like a modified XDiavel. However, the Benelli won’t leave you complaining as it bears the distinctiveness as well. The headlamp is certainly a Benelli thing as it bears resemblances with TNT 300, but with uniqueness.

The LED projector lamp incorporated headlamp comes with a vertical appearance. It dons a fully digital instrument cluster and there is a very muscular and chunky 16-litre capacity fuel tank. Side profile of this model delivers a bold look with the nakedness. A low sitting and ergonomically designed spacious seat not only ensures comfortable riding posture, but great control over the machine as well. The shortened tail-section gets LED lights and there side mounted twin-barrel exhaust.

The motorcycle gets power from an in-line twin-cylinder, liquid-cooled, four-stroke engine that is capable of churning out 39.4 hp of peak power at 9,000 rpm and 35 Nm of peak torque at 7,000 rpm. For transmission duty, the Benelli 402S gets a 6-speed gearbox.

The motorcycle is built on a chassis trimmed in tubes with steel plates. For braking duty, there are dual 260 mm semi-floating discs up front and rear gets a 240 mm disc, combined with ABS. The motorcycle runs on 17-inch black alloy wheels wrapped with meaty tyres. Suspension duty is done by 41 mm USD front fork and swingarm with monoshock absorber at rear with 45 mm travel.
