2017 Vespa GTS 125 and GTS 150 take power from new i-get engines; the Euro4 compliant engines produce 12 hp and 15 hp respectively

Italian scooter manufacturer Vespa has unveiled the updated GTS 125 and GTS 150 scooters at the ongoing Intermot 2016 in Cologne, Germany. Both the scooters come equipped with new technologically advanced i-get engine. The Italian scooters come with range of accessories, which make these retro inspired models more appealing, but the powertrain is certainly the talking point here.

These scooters come all new chrome framed rear light assembly, and clear plastics fro front and rear indicators. Apart from that, both the scooters can be accessorized with a windshield, which is shock-resistant. The trunk can accommodate a full-face helmet with its large space. The aesthetically designed scooters offers maximum passenger comfort, while the premium leather seats and the stylish look takes the charm up. Piaggio has certainly done a nice job by adding new safety features to this scooter, which include ABS combined with Revolution Detection System.

Both the engines are Euro 4 emission norm compatible, and the 125cc engine churns out 12 hp of peak power at 8,250 rpm and the 150cc engine produces 15hp of peak power at 8,250 rpm. These are certainly enough to take the rider through city traffic easily, while saving more fuel is something which adds on zing to these scooters.

The new i-get ranges of engines come with several new parts, which include cylinder head, piston, crankshaft and valve train. These engines are developed to keep them free from friction. The transmission has been updated as well to deliver better performance.

The lubricants need to be changed after every 10,000km, while the valve clearance adjustment is needed to be done after every 20,000km. Also the improved fuel efficiency for these scooters are 42.4 kmpl for GTS 125 and 41.1 kmpl for GTS 150. Braking duty is done by 220mm stainless steel disc brakes at both wheels of both scooters. The scooters run on 12-inch alloy wheels wrapped with tubeless tyres.
