2017 Super Snake Widebody Concept has the stock 5.0-litre engine upgraded to produce a massive 750 horsepower

The Super Snake is a mainstay name for the bonkers Mustang created for several years now from the house of Shelby. Its performance is tuned to get the better of a challenger in the quarter mile drag race with an enthusiastic reference. It could outrun most of the European sports cars with its power-packed engine outputs.

However, as the world is changing, Shelby had to adapt. The new Super Snake which officially premiered as the Widebody concept has all the bells and whistles to go around a race track faster. Obviously, getting the best times around a race track involves sheer aerodynamic performance and Shelby did not shy away from the technicalities involved in honing the air.

Mind you, we have not known yet whether the Widebody concept will be put into production or not but we so desire they will. The concept itself appeared to be a road-going version to lock heads with the craziest of Camaros with specific track packages. It boasts plenty of exterior and interior changes while the modified mechanical bits are quite serious.

Shelby has gone on about installing a supercharged 5.0-litre V8 egine which is good enough to deliver a maximum power output of 750 horsepower. Right away, the GT350R is put to rest on paper. The massive increase in engine power has resulted in changes to the brake system as a four-piston Brembo calipers and, 16-inch rotors up front and 14-inch rear rotors at the rear are used.

With the braking sorted, a drive around a race track can be optimal only if necessary changes to the chassis are made and Shelby has done just that. They have adjusted the suspension as well with a coilover setup, new rear lower control arms, 2.5-inch wider track at the front with a 4-inch wider rear track.

Shelby American vice president of operations Vince LaViolette has expressed that the new Super Snake will deliver“more communication to the driver” and better absorb track imperfections. If Shelby gives it a green light for production, the muscle car war between Mustang and Camaro can leap to a new level in terms of performance.
