2017 Shelby Mustang GTE comes with option of two power sources: a 456 hp 5.0L Coyote engine and a 340 hp 2.3L EcoBoost motor
The 2017 GTE Mustang has been launched by Shelby. The model gets spurred up by the Shelby GT and GT-H programs. The performance based version has been unveiled to give the enthusiasts and customers good rate of driving of fun at an affordable price tag behind the wheel of a Mustang. The American tuner says the GTE is not made for bogged down drivers but for the people obsessed with performance driving.
Going through the mechanical underpinnings and drivetrain, it is easy to understand what they really mean to say here. The 2017 GTE Mustang gets power from two powertrains the buyers can opt between. One is the top-of-the-range Ford’s 5.0-litre Coyote engine which is good enough to generate a maximum power output 456 hp and 574 Nm of peak torque.
On the other side, the small displacing 2.3-litre EcoBoost engine is tuned to produce a peak power output of 340 hp and 528 Nm of peak torque. The driving dynamics has also been improved as Shelby tuned the suspension and ride handling bits. Shelby has a special place throughout Mustang’s history due to the way they go with the tuning.
Nothing has changed in the GTE as well as the signature Shelby tuning will be complemented by the sporty exterior with revised styling making it stand-apart among the Mustang family. There is another provision for performance increase as the 5.0-litre engine can be topped up with a supercharger to catapult the power output to 670 horsepower.
As for the exterior changes, the GTE Mustang comes equipped with traditional Shelby badges and Le Mans inspired stripes. The exhaust system has been developed by Ford’s performance arm in conjunction with Borla to deliver a symphony of true American muscle car. On the inside, the GTE features Shelby badging and added gauges as nothing much has changes. The Mustang logo lying opposite to the Shelby’s could come as an option.
